Confirmation Mentors

What is a Confirmation Mentor?
A mentor is an adult who has a growing relationship with a youth who is participating in the confirmation process. Mentors should be active in the church, including attending worship regularly, and show examples of Christ by sharing, caring, learning and praising. During the confirmation process, mentors meet with their youth on a weekly basis and get to know them on a personal and spiritual level. We hope the relationship that is established would continue beyond the confirmation process.

We ask that Confirmation mentors not have a youth in middle school or senior high. This provides the opportunity for confirmation youth to connect with other adults in the church.

When is Confirmation?
The confirmation process begins with a Kick-off Dinner on Friday, Feburary 3 and concludes with Confirmation Sunday on May 6.

Mentor Requirements
• Attend a mentor training session on Sunday, January 15.
• Attend the Confirmation Kick-off Dinner on Friday, February 3.
This event includes team building activities with the mentors
   and youth.
• During the confirmation process, meet with your youth once a
week for an hour. The time and place can be established at
the convenience of the youth and mentor.
• At the Confirmation retreat, the youth receive letters from
friends and family. Mentors should be a part of this great
experience and submit a letter for their youth.
• Attend Confirmation on Sunday, May 6 at the 11:00 service.

Additional Optional Activities
The youth must participate in a service project during
confirmation. If possible, mentors should be there to help while
   their youth serves.
• The youth are required to usher, greet or serve communion one
time during confirmation. Mentors should try to be there that
   Sunday to encourage them.
• If your youth plays sports or participates in other after school
activities, make an effort to attend one of their events.
