Arcola United Methodist Church

We have traveled to Rio Bravo, Mexico since the late 1990’s and worked with the Mexican Methodist Church in a number of ways. We have built casitas for families, hosted bible schools for local children, built additions to churches and schools, and we built a public kindergarten called the Elinore Jean Riedel School. This kindergarten currently has over 150 kids coming each day. We have also tended to the local dogs by providing vet services over the years and continue to sponsor several high school age girls as they continue their studies in high school.

  Rio Bravo is a city of over 100,000 people approximately 50 minutes south of Harlingen, Texas.  We stay at LARC, a ministry center in the middle of the city where we take our meals.  Our work is done in conjunction with the Mexican Methodist Church and local authorities. For 2012 our work will consist of:

• Hosting a Bible school  at two locations in the city
• Building new classrooms for a Junior High School
 We welcome all rising 9th graders and older to join us. The dates for 2012 are Saturday, June 16 to Friday June 22, and we will celebrate the work at worship on Sunday June 24. The cost per person is $850 and there are scholarships available; please note the registration form below. Please contact Pastor Chris Riedel or Molly Riedel with questions.
