Youth Confirmation 2010

                  Youth Confirmation Class 2009                    

       Our confirmation process has two broad goals.  First, we hope to foster a vital relationship between the youth and Jesus Christ.  Secondly, we hope to build friendships among the youth and community with the larger church.  Confirmation is for youth in 8th grade and up.  Our process involves the following events and dates:
    
    *Saturday, February 20 from 6 - 9pm, will be the initial 
         gathering where an overview of the confirmation 
         process will be presented and there will be some group
         building experiences.  This is a dinner for the confirmation class
         and their parents.

    *The process also includes a series of six classes exploring God,
        Jesus Christ, grace and salvation, the church and how we live
        as followers of Jesus Christ.  These classes meet Sunday
        mornings at 11:00 in the Chapel for six weeks.

                    * Feb. 21 - Lesson 1: United Methodist Church
                    * Feb. 26 - Attend worship at a Synagogue
                    * Feb. 28 - Lesson 2:  United Methodist Beliefs
                    * Mar. 7 - Lesson 3:  The Sacrament of Baptism
                    * Mar. 14 - Lesson 4:  The Sacrament of Holy Communion
                    * Mar 21 - Lesson 5:
                    * Mar 28 - Palm Sunday - No Confirmation Class
                    * April 1 - Maundy Thursday Worship Service
                    * April 4 - Easter Sunday - No Confirmation Class
                    * April 10 - Attend worship at a Catholic Church
                    * April 11 - Lesson 6
                    * April 16 - 18 - Camp Highroad Retreat and service
                                           project
                    * April 25 - Confirmation Sunday

       As with anything, you will get out what you put into the process.  We are aware of many competing claims to everyone’s schedule, but we would ask each family to make a full commitment to being part of the whole process.  If your schedule makes this problematic at this time, you might want to consider doing confirmation next year.

The cost for the whole process is $80 per youth, though there are scholarships available. Please talk with Katie Humphries with any questions.  To sign up, please complete the attached form and click the submit button.
